The Enginepedia
The Galaxy is full of wonders. Nebulae and Red Giants, Comets and Ring Worlds. Tria, a world with oceans hundreds of miles deep swarming with sea serpents and krakens; Endro with its thick atmosphere and flying whales. There are man made wonders too; the enormous temples on Rysir, ancient space stations, the domed cities of the moon, Charin... but these wonders pale in comparison to those of the past.
We live in the second age of Humanity, the Silver Age. It was thousands of years ago during the Gold Age that Humanity spread out from its homeworld to conquer the stars. It was during this time that that Humanity reached its zenith in science and technology; they created faster than light star drives, reengineered themselves and also created whole new types of life in the form of ELFs. But this was not to last; three thousand years ago a shadow spread throughout the Galaxy devastating everything in its path.
But there were survivors scattered here and there, isolated from each other by vast gulfs of space. They began again, rebuilding their civilizations from scratch, the wonders of the Gold Age becoming a distant memory before passing into myth and legend. But there was at least one world that was relatively unscathed by the ruin throughout the rest of The Galaxy; Epis, now the homeworld of the Silver Republic whose Star Engines tunnel across space seeking to reunite the scattered tribes and revive at least some of the glories of the past.
But not all relics of the Gold Age are benign, and who knows what else there is lurking in the infinite darkness of space...
